Meet Gloria
Gloria P. Lopez was born and raised in Colombia, South America. She graduated from High School at age of 16, and earned her degree of Physician and Surgeon in 1995 from Universidad Tecnologica de Pereira. After the mandatory 12 months of Medical Rural service, Gloria worked for 8 years at the Hospital Universitario San Jorge, as a General Practitioner in the Surgery and Emergency Room wards.
In 2005, with Colombia’s violence still escalating, Gloria came to the United States looking for better opportunities, greatly motivated by all her family who was already here. The same year, she completed the Board Examination of Medicine with the main purpose of starting a residency program in Internal Medicine or in Family Medicine.
These plans were postponed by her marriage and the birth of her son, Nicholas. After a couple of years, with no suitable offers to a residency program, Gloria decided to return to the medical profession as a Medical Assistant in an Internal Medicine group in Tallahassee. In the next two years, Gloria worked on gaining an in-depth understanding of the Health Care System of the United States.
In 2011, Gloria enrolled the combined Nursing Program at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, Florida, graduating as a Registered Nurse (BSN) in 2013, and then, as an Advance Registered Nurse Practitioner (MSN) in 2014.
