Botox or Dysport: Which Is The One I Need

Botox vs. Dysport
When you start the process of choosing either Botox or Dysport, there are a few considerations that you may need to make. The Ideal Injection Sites
Botox and Dysport are very similar in that they both treat lines and wrinkles; however, Dysport is far better for targeting glabella lines (also known as “number 11” or “frown lines”). Botox, meanwhile, can also help with glabella lines, but its main uses are for crows feet and forehead lines.

How Many Units?
The number of units you’ll need for your treatment depends entirely on the areas you’re planing on treating, as well as the severity of your wrinkles and lines. Our providers will work with you to select an appropriate amount of units for your injection, but in general, the recommended dosages by treatment area are:
- Glabella lines – 20 units
- Glabella and forehead lines – 40 units
- Crow’s feet – 24 units
How Long Before It Works?
Botox injections usually start working and displaying visual improvement within three to five days, and you will see results with Dysport slightly sooner than that. Remember to not massage or itch the injection site, as this will cause the injected liquid to move around underneath your skin.
How Long Will My Results Last?
In general, botox injections last anywhere from three to six months; the longevity of your injection depends on how well you care for your injection site after the procedure and how expressive you are during that time period.
Dysport has similar longevity to Botox, so you can expect up to six months of treatment from your Dysport injection. When you start to notice your lines and wrinkles coming back, you should schedule a follow-up injection appointment with our technicians.
