What Are Botox And Dysport?

Botox® and Dysport® are FDA-approved injectables used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines without changing the look or movement of the rest of your face. Both of these injectables help reduce fine lines and wrinkles by paralyzing the underlying muscles, effectively prohibiting wrinkles from forming.

How it Works

Neurotoxins are effective wrinkle relaxing treatments that help prevent and minimize fine lines and wrinkles by weakening the muscle underneath. These treatments can specifically target and soften the appearance of crow’s feet, forehead lines, frown lines between the eyebrows, lines around the lips, and a gummy smile. Neurotoxins can also be used for an eyebrow lift or a lip flip.

Which one do I need – Botox® or Dysport®?

Which injection you get depends largely on the areas you would like treated. Dysport® is ideal for treating glabella lines, while Botox® is approved for treating forehead lines and crow’s feet in addition to glabella lines. Our injection specialists will determine which injection will best help you achieve your desired results.

How long do results last?

You can expect to see the results of Botox® within 3-5 days of treatment, while Dysport® results may show up a bit sooner. The results of both Botox® and Dysport® are temporary and results typically last between 3-6 months.

How many units will I need?

The number of units you’ll need for your treatment depends entirely on the area(s) you’d like treated and the severity of your wrinkles/lines. Our providers will work with you to select an appropriate amount of units for your injection, but in general, the recommended dosages by treatment area are:

  • Glabella lines – 20 units

  • Glabella and forehead lines – 40 units

  • Crow’s feet – 24 units

The great thing about Botox® and Dysport® is that the injections are virtually painless.
