COVID-19 Update For AAD Patients

March 16th, 2020
By

We are closely monitoring the coronavirus situation, and will continue to provide updates to patients on whether or not this will impact our operating procedures. For the time being, all AAD offices will continue to serve patients during their regular hours.

For the time being, all Academic Alliance in Dermatology offices will continue to operate and serve patients during their standard hours. We understand that this is a scary time for patients and a time of uncertainty for many businesses, but for now our doors will remain open so our staff can continue to provide our patients with the important care they require.

With that being said, the safety of our patients remains our top priority, and there are several steps that our team has taken to do our part in minimizing the spread of coronavirus and to help protect you – our patients – and also the loyal staff of AAD:

  • We are wiping down all public spaces and patient exam/treatment rooms with disinfectant.
  • Staff who are coughing or sneezing due to allergies or cold-like symptoms are wearing masks.
  • Staff with flu-like symptoms are being told to stay home and must be cleared by an Urgent Care or Primary Care physician before returning to work.
  • We have also instructed our team to wash their hands in the exam room after treating you before moving on to the next patient.

What if I think I might be sick?

If you have any of the following signs or symptoms, we ask that you please stay home and reschedule your appointment with us:

  • Temperature or feeling unusually warm.
  • Cold-like symptoms or runny nose.
  • Coughing, discomfort or pain when breathing.
  • Shortness of breath that is out of the ordinary.
  • Feeling ill, unusually tired, fatigue or just not feeling normal.
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle aches, or headaches.

A Message for High-Risk Patients:

If your own immune system is compromised due to chemotherapy, immunotherapy, treatment with aggressive biologics, or multiple other diseases, we can reschedule your appointment. If you have questions about your health status, consult your treating physician before coming to see us.

As the coronavirus situation continues to develop, we will keep all patients updated if there are any changes to our business operations. We understand that this is a really scary time for many patients, and we want you to know that our team is here for you no matter what you need. Above all else the health of our patients and staff is critically important to us, and we want you to feel as comfortable as possible during this time of uncertainty – whether that means rescheduling an existing appointment for later down the road or coming into the office to receive care. Together we will weather this storm…just know that we are here to serve you.
