What Is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is an exfoliating skin treatment that uses a razor-like blade to remove dead skin cells and hair from the patient’s face. During your dermaplaning treatment your provider uses a small, sterile scalpel to gently shave off the top layer of your skin, removing peach fuzz, dead skin cells, and other debris to reveal a brighter, clearer, more radiant layer of fresh skin that’s baby smooth to the touch. How long does dermaplaning take?
A full dermaplaning session usually takes around 30 minutes, so you can squeeze it in on your lunch break or whenever you have a bit of free time. Some patients choose to combine dermaplaning with a facial for a full pampering experience, which does extend the length of the procedure a bit.
How long do dermaplaning results last?
Results can vary, but in general most patients see visible results from their dermaplaning session for at least 3 weeks after the procedure in the form of skin that is smoother, has better texture, is brighter, and has reduced fine lines. For some people their peach fuzz takes more than a month to start growing back, while others with a more aggressive hair pattern may start to see it growing back earlier.
Does dermaplaning hurt?
Although the thought of a blade sliding across your face can be scary, dermaplaning is completely painless! Think of it like shaving, but with a much more precise razor handled by an expert.
