What is Laser Hair Reduction?

Laser hair removal uses light-based laser technology to reduce unwanted hair on the patient’s face and body.

How It Works

During the treatment your provider will use a hand-held laser gun to target areas on your skin, releasing a laser beam that penetrates the skin’s surface, destroying the root of each hair follicle and preventing hair from growing. The result is flawlessly smooth skin and lots of extra time that you will save from not having to shave!

FAQs

How many Laser Hair Reduction sessions will I need?

The number of treatments required can vary based on what areas you are having treated, but most patients find that, because hairs have to be treated in all of their various growth stages, on average it takes between 6 and 8 sessions to achieve full results.

How long does each Laser Hair Reduction session last?

The duration of each session is completely dependent upon what areas are being treated. It may take just a few minutes to treat a small area like the upper lip, while larger areas like an entire back can take over an hour. Your provider will give you an accurate estimate of how long they anticipate each session taking so that you know exactly what to expect.

How long do the results from Laser Hair Reduction last?

Every patient is different, and everyone’s body responds differently to laser hair reduction treatment. It’s important to understand that although laser hair reduction is extremely effective at reducing hair growth, there is no guarantee that the results will be permanent for every patient. Most patients can expect 6-12 months of complete smoothness before some hair starts to grow back, for others results may last longer or even forever. Maintenance treatments may be required over time to maintain your results, but patients will find that even if hair does return it grows back lighter, finer, and there is much less than there was before treatment.

Does Laser Hair Reduction hurt?

Some patients may experience minimal discomfort while undergoing laser hair reduction. You may feel a little zap when the laser beam is fired, which feels similar to a slight flick or the light snap of a rubber band against your skin. It is much less painful than being waxed, and our providers do everything possible to minimize any discomfort during your treatment.
